Blackberry VS iPhone - Battlefield AT&T?

Mon, 12 May 2008 21:22:31 PDT
So the Blackberry Bold is coming out in its I must say beautifully redeisgned glory that doe share similair design elements from the iPhone, it has great new features and better yet a new OS and interface. And guess who the first “exclusive” carrier is going to be, why thats right AT&T. Problem? Yes. The Bold is a direct competitor to the iPhone and AT&T has both exclusively. This is bad news for the iPhone, and this on top of other reasons is why Apple needs to jump the exclusive shi

PBS: Not so neuroscience-savvy

Mon, 12 May 2008 21:22:47 PDT
Salon has an interesting piece condemning a recent PBS show purportedly on Alzheimer’s treatment but really more of a sketchy informercial. The program concerns a neurologist with tenuous ties to UC Irvine who advocates SPECT (single photon emission computed tomograpy, a technique which, similar to PET, uses a radiotracer) and some unfounded preventative treatments for Alzheimer’s. The neurologist Bill Amen has appeared on many big-name media outlets including CNN, the Today Show, and Fox News

Unwritten Speech Codes

A few weeks ago, about the time when The Dartmouth Review blog broke the Priya Venkatesan story and Dartblog was first to publish an interview with Ms. Venkatesan, the Office of Public Affairs began to include blogs in their review of Dartmouth in the news. This did not last long, and it is not the first time. In 2005 a blog called "ViewPoints" a compendium of Dartmouth news and information largely from student blogs was begun only to mysteriously vanish. One Dartmouth student, class of 2010,

Who will reign over Digg: Obama or Jobs?

Mon, 12 May 2008 21:36:58 PDT
When Kevin Rose founded Digg, the site caught on as a hub for quirky geek news, and it's retained a reputation as being full of extremely opinionated tech enthusiasts. Twitter: News Before It Becomes News

Mon, 12 May 2008 21:15:49 PDT
A little over a week ago I was having coffee and talking technology and ministry with Cynthia Ware of The Digital Sanctuary. And she told me a story about some friends of hers and how they had received information from Twitter regarding some events that later became the news. Basically, because of the posts on Twitter, these people had firsthand accounts of news before it hit the major news stations. She talked a little then about how Twitter or even some tool like that (who knows what the fu

The Pediatric Cardiologist

Mon, 12 May 2008 21:16:23 PDT
I am not sure if you any of you even remember me posting about this, but when Will was born he had a hole in his heart. The pulmonary veins were also tight around his heart (I think it was something like this), and he had a heart murmur. When he was a little baby, we had to bring him in to be checked by the pediatric cardiologist. At that time, we were told that everything looked fine and that he would probably outgrow it. He was suppose to have a follow up in December, and bad mommy here forgo

Thoughts on suffering, pt. 2

Mon, 12 May 2008 21:16:38 PDT

One in six of drivers drink sometimes: report

Mon, 12 May 2008 21:19:31 PDT
This is great. Please allow me to give the SAMHSA a news flash: 99.987% of people who own a car and drink alcohol, regularly drive drunk or have driven drunk.
