I couldn't even believe this article, it's so creepy and out there. But in fact, Palin was mayor of Wasilla, Alaska from 1996 to 2002. And according to an Alaskan news article in the local Wasilla paper in the year 2000, the City of Wasilla, under Mayor Palin, charged rape victims for their own forensic tests in order to keep taxes low.

Two new polls, by ABC News/Washington Post and CNN, released Monday evening show Sen. Barack Obama with a one-point lead on Sen. John McCain, 47 to 46. Early on Monday, USA Today/Gallup, and Gallup on its own, published polls which showed McCain ahead by narrow margins.

The Conference Board Employment Trends Index continued its year-long decline in August, suggesting even more softening to come in the labor market. The index fell in August to 110.8, down 0.5 percent from July's revised figure of 111.4, and down more than 8 percent from a year ago.
